Will Gordon wear purple and orange this season?

As Steve Nash's days as a Phoenix Sun appear to be ending, the Suns moved aggressively today to land restricted free agent shooting guard Eric Gordon. After welcoming Gordon to Phoenix with a dinner meeting last night, the Suns and Gordon continued their conversation today, and the Arizona Republic's Paul Coro reports tonight that Gordon has agreed to sign an offer sheet for the maximum amount allowed under CBA rules.

"After visiting the Suns, the impression the organization made on me was incredible," Gordon said in a prepared statement. "Mr. Sarver, Lon Babby, Lance Blanks, the front office staff and Coach Gentry run a first-class organization, and I strongly feel they are the right franchise for me. Phoenix is just where my heart is now."

The maximum offer is believed to be 4 years/$58M, an average salary of $14.5M/year. Gordon's rights are still owned by the New Orleans Hornets, who acquired him last December in the Chris Paul trade. Restricted free agent offer sheet signing period doesn't begin until July 11th, so the offer can't be officially extended or matched until then.

Gordon saying, "Phoenix is just where my heart is now" seems to imply that he's sending the Hornets the message that he doesn't want them to match the offer, or that they should explore a sign and trade with the Suns. The Hornets can match anyway, and Gordon can't do anything about it, but teams generally don't want to keep around players who aren't committed to their franchise.

At the very least, the Suns have driven up the price for New Orleans, and will make the Hornets think long and hard about letting the pricey 23-year old Gordon walk and instead going with inexpensive rookie Austin Rivers to grow with acclaimed fellow rookie Anthony Davis.

What do you think, Suns fans? Will Gordon end up on the Phoenix Suns this season?

Steve Nash dishes autographs to fans at Showdown 2012

You're probably thinking this is another 'Trolling' title from me - but it's not. Though it may seem that there is a 'showdown' with Steve Nash in regards to his decision in free agency, let me assure you this has nothing to do with it.

Steve is a busy-bee in the off-season, every year it's the same. Whether it's making funny videos, marketing a new business venture, training or serving the community Nash runs a tight schedule and is always on the move.

Last weekend Steve Nash and his Foundation held their annual charity event in downtown New York City called Showdown. For those unfamiliar with the event here's a description from stevenash.org,

NBA stars. Soccer's best. An urban field. A sweet 8-a-side game of futbol in the middle of a city benefiting children everywhere. Steve brings his passion to play in this innovative soccer match that any sports fan will love. Showcasing athletes from two sports, Showdown is the beautiful game at its most creative. With international NBA and professional soccer rosters ... the Showdowns are events not to be missed! The Showdown is a free-to-the-public event located on the Lower East Side of New York City. There's nothing like the Showdown. We follow it up with Showdown After Hours, a chance to meet and mingle with the games' greats and raise funds for underserved children benefiting from the Steve Nash Foundation's platforms.

This year SB Nation's Matt Ufford had up close and personal access to the event and provides us with an awesome recap - catch the video after the jump.

No matter where Steve ends up he'll always be top tier in giving back to the community in unique ways - kudos to Matt Ufford and the SB Nation Studios for the sweet vid.

Steve Nash announces he has a new team

And it's not the Toronto Raptors.... Yet.

Since Sunday the onslaught of rumors and trades and dinners and meetings and swoonings and golfings and money-throwings have been intense.

Right smack-dab in the center of it all is our former 2-time MVP point guard Steve Nash.

Earlier this morning Steve made the public announcement that he has a new team. Jump it to find out which lucky team gets to witness the 38-year ageless wonder dish out delicious assists.

Hey don't start yelling at Sarver and the front office just yet!

It's his new Liquid Nutrition team guys! DUH!

Before the NBA season last year Steve held the grand opening of his Toronto-based Liquid Nutrition business venture - it's a company that basically provides tasty health-smoothies in a chic and hipster environment and whatnot.

He's recruited some big names to his Liquid Nutrition team - check the video to see who has joined Nash in his smoothie movement.

Clever move Steve. Well played.
