Lakers Trounce Suns, 128-107
Well Suns fans, the good news is it's only one game. The bad news is the Lakers destroyed the Suns tonight, 128-107.
Gotta admit I can't stand watching the Lakers, even if they aren't playing the Suns. Just watching these guys makes me ill.
But let's give some credit where it's due: the Lakers outclassed the Suns tonight. The Suns didn't play D, they didn't hit any 3s, they didn't rebound, and the so-called Lamar Odom disappearing/reappearing act pulled a serious reappearing act tonight.
The Suns have won ugly in the postseason (as ugly as Craig Sager and his stupid suits), but tonight the numbers don't lie, and the total of the box score pretty much tells the story...Where do we start?:
- The Suns were out rebounded 42-34.
- The Lakers shot 58% from the field, the Suns 49%.
- Kobe Bryant scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter en route to 40 total points.
- The Lakers shot 8-17 from beyond the arc (47%), the Suns 5-22 (22.7%).
- Paul Gasol and Kobe Bryant went a combined 23-36 from the field (Oh and Kobe went for 40).
- Dudz, Frye, and Amundson went a combined 3-17 from the field.
- The Suns had 4 fast break points.
- The Suns were outscored in the paint 56-36.
- The Suns bench was outscored 44-35.
- The Suns starters totalled a -60.
Add up that equation and it's pretty clear your Suns are going to lose. But we're not called the Bright Side of the Sun for nothing. There were some decent performances:
- Robin Lopez returned to action to post 14 points and 6 rebounds.
- LB hit on 5-7 from the field for 11 points and 2 assists.
- Goran Dragic went 5-8 from the field for 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in 20 minutes of action.
- Steve Nash hit for 13 points and 13 assists with 1.5 eyeballs.
- Amare Stoudemire hit for 23 points.
